Natural DIY Facial Masks

All of these facial masks will leave your face feeling clean and refreshed using simple ingredients from your kitchen.

Banana Masks

Mash up a medium-sized ripe banana into a smooth paste, gently apply to your face and neck, let it set for 10 to 20 minutes and rinse off with cold water. Or, add 1/4 cup plain yogurt, and 2 tablespoons honey to 1 medium mashed banana. Moisturizes and softens.

Vinegar Masks

Mix 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar with 2 cups water as a finishing rinse after washing. Or, mix 1/4 cup cider vinegar with 1/4 cup water. Gently apply the solution to your face and let it dry. Cleanses and tightens.

Milk Mask

Mix 1/4 cup powdered milk with enough water to form a thick paste, thoroughly coat your face with the mixture, let dry completely, and rinse with warm water.  Freshens and rejuvenates.

Oatmeal Mask

Combine 1/2 cup hot—not boiling—water and 1/3 cup oatmeal, let mixture sit for 2-3 minutes, mix in 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, and 1 small egg white. Apply a thin layer of the mask to your face, let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, and rinse with warm water.  Quick pick me up.

Mayonnaise or Mustard Mask

Gently spread the mayonnaise or mustard from your fridge over your face, leave it on for about 20 minutes, wipe it off and rinse with cool water. Mayo: cleanses and smooths. Mustard: soothes and stimulates.

More Yogurt Masks

Slather some plain yogurt on your face and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Or, mix 1 teaspoon plain yogurt with the juice from 1/4 slice of orange, some of the orange pulp, and 1 teaspoon aloe. Leave the mixture on your face for at least 5 minutes before rinsing. Cleanses and tightens pores.

Lemon Mask

Mix the juice from 1 lemon with 1/4 cup olive oil or sweet almond oil, leave it on for 5-10 minutes and rinse with warm water. Exfoliates and moisturizes.

Egg Masks

For dry skin that needs moisturizing, separate an egg and beat the yolk. For oily skin beat the egg white (a bit of lemon or honey can be added). For normal skin, use the entire egg. Apply the beaten egg, wait 30 minutes, and rinse.  Freshens!
